The successful entrepreneur in the 21st century is aware of the landmines of easily defeating anyone who tries to venture into the network marketing business. Successful Entrepreneur Landmine Number 1: Social suggestion

This is something that we all go through when we first make the decision to take the leap to entrepreneur success.  Here’s an analogy that will put things in perspective for you:

There’s a certain type of crab that will lower itself into the crab trap through a hole in the top. This type of crab is very agile and has the capacity to easily come and go through the hole at will. But here’s the thing…. the first crab goes in there after the food that’s put in.  Then by “social suggestion” other crabs will join him.  Pretty soon it’s crab thanksgiving in the trap, because others just follow along…even when the food is gone and there’s no more logical reason to go in there…still other crabs join in the trap!

Now, here’s the really sad part…every once in a while there might be one smart crab that discovers the food is gone and there’s no more reason to stay.  But when he decides advance towards the hole in the top, other crabs will attack him!  They will tear off his claws so he has no means of escape, and if he persists further, he will actually be fought to the point of death!

Although the human species usually doesn’t persist to the point of death (although some aren’t above it), they will “tear your claws off” in the sophisticated ways….”That will never work”, “that’s just too good to be true”, or “don’t get involved in the pyramid scheme”…sound familiar?

So why would those who love us try to hurt us? They really don’t mean to, but there are lots of reasons why your friends will keep you down. First of all, misery loves company.  Deep down, they might know you’re on to something big, but they’re too lazy themselves to try something new, so they want you to stay down with them.  In addition, they could just be jealous of your ambition, so they try to cut you at the quick.

The best thing to do in these situations is to not be defensive.  These people will never learn, and they’re not worth your time.

Successful Entrepreneur Landmine Number 2:  Commitment

This is a biggy with network marketing because this business is usually very easy to get into.  Although there is always plenty of opportunity to breed true entrepreneur success, what’s easy to get into is also easy to get out of.  Especially if you’re used to working the old J-O-B and getting a continuous paycheck, the money does not come quite as immediately with network marketing.  People are too quick to throw in the towel.  There’s a critical mass that needs to be achieved before the compounding effect takes place.  People are impatient and unwilling to persist.  When you start out in a business like this, it’s imperative to promise yourself you will stay with it at least a year. Commitment is defined as continuing to do something even though the mood that drives you is gone.

Landmine Number 3:  Self Image

This is the main reason why most people tend to drop like flies.  The successful entrepreneur knows that you need to become a leader – the one who everyone wants to be around, and the one who everyone wants to follow.  If you’re not a leader, than this business will probably the most gratifying life changing epic in your life!  Why?  Because that’s the best part of network marketing….becoming the leader that everyone looks up to…becoming the successful entrepreneur that everyone wants to follow!  Once you have that down pat, everything else falls into place.
